Over the past few days, I have wept with godly friends who are facing horrible circumstances. Over the past few days, I have rejoiced with godly friends who are experiencing amazing good stuff. Tonight, I am fighting a crummy, summer cold. You know what? The weeping friends, the laughing friends, and even sickly me, can all call ourselves...blessed. Blessed. We throw that word around a lot, but I think misunderstand it greatly. My favorite definition of blessed is connected with God. Was Joseph not connected with God while in the pit? While in prison? Was Corrie Ten Boom not connected with God while in that hiding place during WW II? Is Joni Erickson Tada not connect with God from her wheelchair? I just ache for all of my sweet friends who may be out there this evening, feeling that earthly, temporal circumstances are indicators of non-blessing, while the peachier-looking circumstances of others are indicators of blessing. If you same, sweet friends are connected to the eternal God, guess what? Blessed. May we all be more focused on connection than comfort. Love you guys, and connections! (aka blessings!) :)
