Over the past few days, and through passive observation of news and events such as: ! 1.) The Chibok Girls saga 2.) The Boko Haram insurgents incursion. 3.) The Modu Sherrif palaver 4.) The Synagogue WMD dilemma....etc I am gradually coming to the point where i can forecast a tome in the future when the most reviled organism on Nigerian soil will be.... a.) Not GEJ b.) Not PDP c.) Not OBJ d.) Not Buhari e.) Not Tinubu, or any of the lesser Nigerian gods. No one but the Almighty Journalist, Custodians of the 4th estate, in whose hands lie the pen, gnarled, carped and twisted like the plywood from a century-old sawmill. Yea, it is they who would rather print to sell, than print to inform. They would rather blow things out of proportion -or play dumb, depending on who is paying them. I read a post by a respected crush of mine, Adelakun Adunni Abimbola. Crush because she represents the minimum standards of the mind a woman should have. She is brilliant and I actually do collect her writeups in the papers. yea, now you know. Anyway, I am heartbroken that she dared to explain away the despicable 50k bribe from Oga Joshua (in Ekiti accent). I hope she has the grace to refrain from sending a verbal airstrike on me. I just want to register my disappointment. that is all. if journalists expect us to understand their conditions for collecting brownies, then why do we parade robbers, and thieves of common goods? I taya for una jare.
