Over the past few days we have stopped the paralyzing medicines and started weaning the medicines that have kept him asleep. We have been very anxious because in the past he never did well with weaning but he has been very good. So I walk in to see how Richie is doing before I go to sleep tonight and the nurse is talking to him. She removed the pillow that is propping him to the side because he seems uncomfortable and she asked him does that feel better Richie? He shook his head no. She asked him again after repositioning him and again he told her no. She closed and cleaned his eyes and he kept them closed and she asked him Richie can you open your eyes please and he did. He got a little excited and this is the first time I talked I told him i was there and to clam down and he squeezed my hand really hard. It was amazing!!! Baby steps in the right direction finally after 33 days!!
