Over the past few weeks, we have covered several fatal auto crashes involving vehicle fires. Unfortunately several people have died after being trapped in these burning vehicles. What if someone in a passing vehicle had a fire extinguisher on board their vehicle? Could it have saved the people inside the car? Maybe, maybe not. But it is worth a try, if you ask me. An average fire extinguisher is between $20-$30. It stores easily in your trunk or back seat. Hopefully you wont ever have to use it, but you might be able to save a life if you have the resource to do so. Fire extinguishers are also very easy to operate. Just remember PASS: Pull Aim Squeeze and Spray. Pull the plug, aim the extinguisher at the fire, squeeze the top lever to unleash the retardant and spray the base of the fire. You can always learn how to use a fire extinguisher at a citizens fire academy program. Its a lot like CPR: its an easy and inexpensive resource to have that might save a life.
