Over the weekend I managed to get a friend who is a very senior planning consultant to look at the application for the floodlit pitch; His view was that the pitch will be hugely detrimental to the amenity of local residents by replacing mature trees with close mesh wire fence, and hard structures, opening up views of the existing buildings which are currently hidden by trees and generating noise which will reverberate around the valley. In his view the pitch is too close to houses. He dismissed any possibility that the pitch could be sited any CLOSER to houses (for example on the existing Stringer pitches) because planners would never be convinced there would be no light spill into gardens and because the noise problem would be worse the closer to the boundary. The school have already said in THEIR design and access statement that the noise generated will breach world health organisation guidelines.
