Over the years my name has been mispronounced by hundreds of people all over the world. Its time to put down a top five list of the best of the worst: #5 a forever classic, best favourite of my American friends: Valería, with a long accent on the i, just to make it sound like diarrhea; #4 first heard from someone in Lebanon, very popular in Africa as well: Malaria, because my parents could be obsessed by exotic diseases; #3 the ultimate Arabic version: Faleeria, life is not easy when you dont have any V in your alphabet; #2 a variation on #2: Fala, made in Ras Al Hadd #1 the one that inspired this list, freshly created by a Pakistani friend: MALINI... Dont ask me where it came from...!
