Over the years we have done our best to do a fest that adheres to our ethics. It became something that was harder and harder to do as we had to try to trump prior years lineups. We increased our budget and added a 2nd day as well as our stress levels all the while we made no $$$ or lost $$$ every year but we kept doing it because we knew you diehards appreciated it. Recently we have seen many bands we helped over the years abandon/turn their backs on us... some out of fear that association with us may hurt their status in HC land or that they may not be able to play other shows or with certain bands. Make no mistake: $$$ and politics rule HC. Ethics, respect, friendship, and brotherhood take a back seat to $$$ and politics in big-time HC land. Much is not what it seems and you are seen more as a consumer than a member of a scene or community. This is the real deal.
