Over there in that corner a bunch of adamant open carry proponents are saying theyre legally able to take their guns wherever they want to. In the corner over yonder a bunch of other folks are hollering about the stupid insecure gun nut crazies who think they need to carry their guns everywhere. And right next to them a whole bunch of other folks are going on and on about how much they love the 2nd Amendment and their CHLs but just wouldnt ever participate in such boneheaded stupidity. Me, Im walking out of the room thinking all three corners have it wrong. Maybe John Q. Public wouldnt be so afraid of guns if the topic ever got any real coverage at any time other than a mass shooting or some similar tragedy. Im thinking JQP has been duped, and has fallen for it hook, line, and sinker. Not only is he/she now apparently afraid of a mechanical device, he/she seems to have no understanding of how to read the person holding it. He/she just seems to be awfully afraid. On my way out the door Im sorta hoping John or Jane Q. Public never has to see a steak knife. Or a sword. Or a power drill. Or a car, since the driver might be drunk or texting or deranged or asleep. Or, apparently, form an independent thought.
