Oxford University Rethinking Islamic Reform youtu.be/-rBXMGgR7XU Speakers: Dr. Tariq Ramadhan & Hamzah Yusuf Duration: ~3 hours Valuable point on the discussion: -Intention: pleasure vs faithfulness. -Reform in Islamic terminology is to realign from its core not changing it. -Islam had vast variety of tools to rectify the misunderstanding within and outside muslim community. -Research from previous Muslim scholars are yet to be resurface. -Muslim role in contributing to the solution of modern/scientific world problem. -Muslim scholars need to works in parallel with professionals on their area of expertise to ensure highest degree of achievement and ethics. -As muslim scholars dealing with textual context and ethics from Islam sources while professionals deals with current known data/knowledge. -Areas of collaboration: financial, politics, social science, psychology, crime investigation, technology, farmaseutical, A.I, sciences, etc. -**e.g: collaboration between Muslim students and Prof. Keith Moore on embryology These are the things that catch my intention during my school years. Why Muslim scholars (or students) cant work shoulder to shoulder with the experts (or the pros)? Because literally, we had textual solutions for all impending and current world problems. The only thing is, we lack of expertise — how big is the problem, how is the data, how to implement, how is the result, what does the result means, how to reconstruct the problems model… all this empirical questions that can be recalibrate by the experts with the help of Muslim scholars making the world better place not only for muslims but also for the other human beings. However, since Im far from my ability to continue this quest, Ill have to pass it to persons who had access to this kind of proposal. #um #utm #usm #utp #kuis #usim #iium #uitm #uum #kusza #umt #umk #ums #ump #unimas and other universities that didnt mention here. Malaysia have the expertise, both in conventional education and in Islamic education, the perfect place for this dream to be a reality. If somehow we can combine these two education into a single stream education, it will be the most valuable treasure for the entire life. InsyaAllah.
