Oymyakon - Siberia Where the refrigerator is considered a useless appliance In this village temperatures these days reaching 67 degrees below zero and rightly is considered the coldest place on Earth. Oymyakon is located in Russia, near the river Indigirka in the northeast of the republic of Sacha in eastern Siberia. In these images, the photographer Zealander Amos Chapple has documented the extreme climatic conditions in this small town which has only 500 souls.
