Ozil up for Ballon dOr, but would Germans rather see somebody else win it? Arsenal News Arsenals Mesut Ozil is among the nominees - but would a more popular choice in his country be a Frenchman? Whatever game is played, Uli Hoeneß can’t stand to lose. Some might say everything Bayern Munich and it’s former long time general manager and now president does is focused on being first. That might be the case for every general manager but its different when one has the firepower of one of the richest clubs in the world with the fourth highest revenue. Although Hoeneß and Bayern Munich completed the treble last season, there is another competition they like to win or even be part of. The FIFA Ballon d’Or. That can’t please Hoeneß and Munich. But this year Munich has a good chance to be a part of the Ballon d’Or. This year’s nominees include four German Bayern Munich players: Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller. There are also Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben from Munich and Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund on this list to put up seven player’s of German Bundesliga in the mix. Franck Ribery is the runaway favourite of the Ballon d’Or mainly because he won this year’s UEFA Best Player in Europe Award and ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Germanys Mesut Ozil features among the nominees, and has seen a raise in his profile thanks to his big money move to Arsenal where he is considered a star in his own right. However seeing a player who performs in front of the German crowds week in and week out might just be more rewarding for fans in the country. Ribery is dynamic player, who is tough to bring down. Maybe one of the few, who tries to score a goal before looking for a opportunity to dive in. The French winger is known as a hard worker and has already recorded seven goals and five assists this season and is right on track to top his last year’s performance with 11 goals and 22 assists. In a recognition to the Bundesligas clamour to be heard as Europes best league, there may just be a number of Germans who would rather he won it than see Ozil, playing abroad, do so. Who would get your vote? Here are all nominees: Gareth Bale, Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Andrés Iniesta, Philipp Lahm, Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Neymar, Mesut Ozil, Andrea Pirlo, Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Luis Suárez, Thiago Silva, Yaya Touré, Robin Van Persie, Xavi.
