O’Malley’s Wednesday Night Dart League CONSTITUTION 1. Executive a. The executive shall consist of the following elected officers: president, stats person, treasurer/secretary, The executive shall meet periodically to discuss the matters of the league. A quorum to vote on any matter shall be not less than one half of the executive plus one. b. Votes will require a 50% + 1 to pass. c. The chairman of the meeting (president) may only vote to break ties. 2. Start time. a. All games will begin at a time the membership has voted on. Teams should make every effort to arrive and be ready on time to avoid delays. If undue delay occurs the delaying team will forfeit the game. 3. Schedule. a. Teams will play games scheduled. The game will be set at the beginning of the season by the membership. 4. Game play. a. The captains will flip a coin to decide which team will start. b. There will be a 5 minutes smoke break following the third game 5. Captains responsiblity: a. Getting their team ready b. Collecting dues from their team and returning these to treasurer c. Keeping score and returning score sheet at the end of games. Score sheets must be filled by each team, signed by the captain and returned to the statistician after the last game. All scores are to be recorded; however scores after the 100 mark will not count towards the player’s average. Players should make note of any dart finish of 100 or more. The score on the sheet is the official score of the game (not the electronic board). d. Representing their team at executive meetings. 6. Dues a. Dues are set at $3.00. Dues are owed each night a player plays and shall be returned to the treasurer before the beginning of game 1. 7. Team composition a. Teams shall consist of no more than six players. A maximum of four players shall play each game and minimum of two players. In the event a team is missing players they can chose to use spare players or a dummy. Teams of three players will rotate their line-up and not count a dummy. Teams of two players will count one dummy only. 8. Playing Rules a. All darts are to be thrown behind the line. b. If a player touches a thrown dart on the board the turn is over regardless of which dart is on the board. The thrown dart or darts shall count (including a winning double). c. If a dart falls from the board before the score is confirmed or recorded on the scoreboard, it shall not count. d. A finishing shot (double out) preceding any other dart thrown wins the game. e. Players must leave their darts in the board until a member of the other team has confirmed the score. Opponents must not make the shooter wait for confirmation. f. Player distraction is not permitted. (for example: by standing behind the player or speaking to the player during her/his turn) g. Attempts to disturb or intimidate the opposing player by any means shall result in the forfeiture of the game in progress. h. If the shooter is within a double out range he/she may ask the designated representative of their team to stand behind and give assistance. i. The score sheets provided by the league shall be the official score, not the score on the electronic or manual boards. The total score should be continuously kept up to date (even under 100) so both teams know where they stand at all times. In case of discrepancy or dispute, the game should stop and the scores rechecked from the beginning to confirm or correct the score. Disputes which cannot be resolved shall be settled by the presiding officer (President, Vice-president) whose decision shall be final. j. The presiding officer shall be responsible for enforcing the rules and settling disputes. 9. Spares. a. Players wishing to play as spares shall have their name on a spares list. This list will be posted. b. Spares should report their presence on arrival. c. Teams with less than four players will have the opportunity to use a spare player. Captains should notify the president if they require a spare player. d. If more than one team requires a spare player or if there is more than one spare player present, the selection will be made by a draw. However, the team missing the most players will receive first draw at the spares. e. Spare list will close on January 31st. f. Spares are required to pay the $3.00 dues. g. A player who arrives late will not replace the spare player until the game is completed. Spares are then to be included in the regular play for the remaining games. 10. Dummy a. The dummy score shall count 25 points until the score reaches 100, after which the dummy no longer counts. b. Once a team has started any game with a dummy and a dummy score has been counted, they must complete the game with the dummy 11. Replacement players. a. No replacement players shall be allowed on a team past he ½ mark of the season, except with good reason and with a vote by the membership. 12. Playoffs a. The format and date shall be decided by the executive no later than January 31st. b. Captains shall inform their teammates of proposed playoff details so that everyone can have an input before any final decisions are made. 13. Constitutional changes. a. Changes or major decisions shall be made by a vote of the membership. Motions shall require a 2/3 majority to pass. 14. Enforcement. a. The president or his designate shall enforce these regulations and make decisions on matters not covered herein. BY-LAWS 1. Statistics a. High yearly average: Player shall play ½ of the total weeks of schedule to qualify. b. High shot: First player to obtain high shot shall win this prize (Ties will be accepted). Note that 180 will not be considered as high shots. c. High double out: First player to hit a high double out shall win this prize (Ties will be accepted). d. High nightly average: Players shall shoot in 4 games in one night to have their nightly average count as high nightly average. 2. League By-Laws a. The league shall be run on a dual signature and chequing account. The signing officers shall be the president and treasurer. b. The president or the treasurer shall not sign blank cheques for one another (receipt or estimates must be submitted first). c. All disputes shall be dealt with at a captains’ meeting. If dispute cannot be resolved by the executive then it shall be brought forward for the general membership to vote. The president gets a vote during membership votes. d. Any captain can call a captains’ meeting by making a written request to the president. The written request shall include the reason for the meeting the executive decides if and when one is needed. Care should be taken in calling as most are unproductive e. Spares shall play at least four nights to receive an invitation to the year end banquet. f. Annual Turkey Shot: Twelve turkeys will be available to win. The president shall have a member chose numbers from a hat. These numbers will have a range of 1 to 100. One number shall be picked for each team and placed in a sealed envelope with the teams name on it. The remaining numbers shall be placed into wild card envelopes. At the end of the night, the envelopes shall be distributed and opened. The team member who shot the according number first shall win a turkey. If no team member shot the number during the evening, then the player who shot the closest without going over to the number will win the turkey. Wild card turkeys shall be awarded to the whole membership. 3. Prize structure a. First and second place for the year b. First and second place for the playoffs c. Most sportsman like player d. Last place team (A joke prize no more than a $5 value shall be given) e. High shot: one for men and one for women f. High average: one for men and one for women g. High nighly average: one for men and one for women h. Most double outs: one for men and one for women i. 180’s and 171’s j. Playoff MVP: women will receive one point for shooting an average of 35 and 3 points for double out. Men will receive one point for shooting an average over 40, and 3 points for double out. There will be only one MVP. 4. GIFTS a. The league shall buy every member of the league two drinks at Christmas (member must be present to receive drinks). The league will give a $20 tip to the working bartender and to the server. b. Every team shall receive $1 for each game they won during the season including playoffs. c. The league shall set aside $50 to buy drinks for the executive during the banquet. d. Once all expenses are paid, the league shall remit all excess monies to the membership in an equitable way. For example, members can receive $1 for every night they played. The league shall keep a minimum of $5 at year end to keep the account opened. e. The league shall pay $10 per month to the statistician for supplies. f. The league shall pay $10 per month to the treasurer for gas. g. The league shall pay $10 per month to the president for gas in February, March and April. h. i. The league shall buy a $25 gift (bottle of certificate) to any member (including executive members) who providing photocopying and/or statistical services. 5. Duties of the President a. To ensure the smooth running of the league on nightly basis b. To settle any disputes that may arise. All decisions shall be based on rules and regulations and shall be final. c. To allocate spares. d. To call and chair captains’ meetings. President shall consider all requests brought forward by captains before bringing these concerns to the membership. e. To make arrangements for banquet: meal, disc jockey, prizes. f. To assist the treasurer with the preparation of prize envelopes. g. Resolve disputes between team captains. H If unable to attend other members of the executive cover Presidents duties 6 Stats a. Collect and record league scoresheets on a nightly basis b. Provide teams with updated stats blank scoresheets cash envelopes each night c. Provide a schedule for league use and setup playoffs d. Ensure playing conditions are ready includes boards and lighting 7. Duties of the Secretary/Treasurer a. To take attendance, collect dues b. Deposit monies on a weekly basis. c. Prepare and post financial statements on a monthly basis. d. Divide the monies at the end of the season. e. Collect all receipts. f. Provide books to any members who wish to view. 8. Duties of the Captain a. Inform president if spare is required. b. Collect dues from team members and submit to the secretary/treasurer. c. Inform team members of discussions held during captains’ meetings. d. Ensure that team is ready to play on time. 9. Changes to bylaws Bylaws can only be changed by a majority vote of the executive to include the captains.
