P2A in AUP Adventist University of the Philippines became one of the partner institutes of Passage to ASEAN or P2A in June of this year when AUP participated in the Partner Meeting held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. P2A is an association of universities from all 10 ASEAN countries formed in light of the ASEAN Integration in 2015. P2A aims to promote knowledgeable students, faculty and staff with the intercultural understanding and competencies to participate and contribute to the ASEAN community, and to promote an ASEAN identity through the fostering of greater awareness of the diversity of culture and heritage. P2A member institutions are considered “partners” in promoting and orienting students to ASEAN in preparation for the regional integration. P2A welcomes Mobile Students - the Entrepreneurs, the Discoverers, the Artists, the Scientists, the Fashion-Lovers, the Wiz-Kids and all the other Mobile Students who know that ASEAN is one of the most important regions today. Each partner shall prescribe its own rules of procedure for the implementation of Passage to ASEAN Charter and Framework within the institution. Partners shall strive for students to have knowledge, understanding and multicultural competencies to work, interact and socialize in the Southeast Asian Region. Partners shall promote general ASEAN studies in the home institute and inter-ASEAN study tours where the students will participate in cross-cultural and ASEAN-related interdisciplinary activities. There are three activities involved in P2A: (1) ASEAN Virtual Tour through its website p2a.asia; (2) ASEAN Game by downloading the official P2A game at play.google; and, (3) P2A Journey in at least 3 ASEAN-member countries with P2A Partner Universities serving as hosts. Upon the completion of these activities, the student will be issued a Certificate of Completion signifying that he or she is an ASEAN Citizen who is ready for the challenges brought about by the ASEAN Integration. In July 7th 2014 AUP President Dr. Francisco D. Gayoba, signed a Certificate of Partnership for Passage to ASEAN with P2A Director Jeroen G. Schedler. In a related development, during the most recent meeting of Partner Universities held in November 26-27, 2014 at the First Philippine Industrial Park, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, University Vice President for Academics Dr. Miriam P. Narbarte signed a specific Memorandum of Agreement regarding academic exchanges and mobility of students with three partner institutes: Universitas Muria Kudus, Indonesia represented by its Vice Rector for Partnership and Development Affairs, Dr. A.
