P60-M BRIDGE REPLACEMENT IN QUEZON COMPLETED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE A bridge project costing P60 Million that aims to cope with present vehicular traffic demand along Daang Maharlika in the province of Quezon is now completed ahead of its target date on January 11. 2015. In an update to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH Region IV-A OIC-Director Samson L. Hebra said that the Quianuang Bridge rehabilitation project, located at Barangay Sampaloc 2 in the municipality of Sariaya is now open to traffic. The project involves the replacement of the old Quianuang Bridge with a double barrel, 25 lineal-meters box culvert. Hebra said that the Department opted for a box culvert, taking into consideration cost-efficiency and urgency to finish the project being located along a busy national highway that serves as the major gateway of motorists going to and from Quezon to Bicol and Visayas Region. The project includes widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes in order to maximizing the road right of way to cope with the increasing traffic volume plying route. Earlier, Secretary Singson instructed DPWH Quezon Second District Engineering Office to finish the bridge before the target date of January 11, 2015 to lessen the inconvenience of the motoring public during the holiday season. The completion of Quianuang Bridge project shall further facilitate the flow of people, goods and services along Maharlika Highway.
