PAGANS DO NOT EXPERIENCE PROMBLEMS AND SUFFERINGS LIKE CHRISTIANS ( PART III ) Matthew 6:25-34 A question was thrown to me during the discussion on the above topic.The question is in Matthew 6:33 Jesus said Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you, why then are Christians who are trying to seek only the Lord,not getting the other things? I answered the question by saying that if a christian decides to stay in the church for twenty four hours (24) without working,(seeking only the Lord)will that person get every other thing? The answer is no. Usually, when people think of the other things their mind go to money.They equate being blessed with money.For many happiness,contentment and Gods blessings is the amount of money one has in his pocket or bank account. Someone quoted some heroes in the bible who were blessed as being rich, why can believers not be blessed like Abraham,Joseph,Job, Esther,Isaac,Jacob, Paul etc? What Jesus is saying is that we should be obedient to God and we should have faith.If we are truly seeking the kingdom of God,we should be faithful and obedient to God, we should not serve other gods. The problem we have with this passage only comes when we have trials and we are worried of how to get out of it.People like Abraham,Isaac, Jacob, Job etc had their troubles but had faith and they did not abandon the Lord. It is true that some succeed due to satans influence. Some get rich because they have the natural talent whereby everything they do brings them gain.A few like lottery winners, roll, in wealth because of time and chance.God also allow some to grow wealthy to try their character etc. The pursuit of wealth is a path that is likely to end in trouble and unhappiness. 1 Timothy 6:8-10 Paul warns ...Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lust which drown men in the destruction and prediction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness,and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. Seeking the kingdom of God first is simply,putting God first and not the pursuit of money. The Psalmist in Psalms 37:3-8,27,34,37 says ....Trust in the Lord and do good;.... Commit your ways to the Lord, trust also in Him.... Rest in the Lord,and wait patiently for Him .... Depart from evil and do good ...... wait on the Lord,keep His ways..... make the blameless man, and observe the upright;for the future of that man is peace. May all your waiting not be in vain in Jesus Name.Amen. Prayer Pray for patience and grace to overcome seasons of trials.
