PARENTS!!! STUDENTS!! EVEN TEACHERS!!! I really want to know (in this town or even others) what everyone thinx of the use of the chromebooks...google classroom etc being used by our kids this year?? Me personally.... I hate it all!! I personally preferred to see homework assignments written every day in the kids agendas.... papers being brought home that had to be handwritten to be completed.... physical papers that had to be turned in...notes from teachers (if needed) written in the agendas...contact via phone or email. I honestly dont know who these chromebooks are helping more... the kids or the teachers? Maybe the parents? Tho I have to say Im not one of those parents... as i said i HATE the way these chromebooks are all thats being used! I dont even like this Aspen program thats available for parents to check (or students) on thangs..... Ive logged on to our account a couple times already.... hafta say other then attendance Im totally lost on there....again... I hate it!! I dont wanna hafta look online on some program to see what homework was scheduled... when its due...and if it got done or not! A couple years back some teachers used a program called Engrade... that i think was the best program ever! Was very simple for someone who isnt very computer savy (aka me)... I saw updates on homework grades...quiz grades...test grades... etc... saw when there were homework assignments very easily and if they were completed or not (along with the grade on em)... and if there was ever a question, was able to contact the teacher and actually get a response i could understand. I didnt hafta search for or try to figure out anythang! Even my son said tonite that he likes the chromebooks for only one reason... its faster but that hed rather actually hafta HAND IN work... not upload it or send it via google classroom. Heres part of what my problem is with that too..... i recently was informed about a couple assignments that werent turned in... when i inquired about them i was told they were sent but there was a problem with google classroom and he didnt know why the teacher didnt get them. I had him SHOW me.... he went to sign in to google classroom and across the top of the page there was a message in a red box...ooops, there was an error with google classroom... I made him close it n try again.... this time it was trouble loading the page. I asked if he told the teacher about this and he said he emailed her about it... again i said SHOW me... he did....he showed me the email he sent to her. what does a kid do in THAT kind of situation?? Its a sign of the time you say?? Screw that!! Bring back the dayum textbooks... dittos...handwritten assignments, notebooks etc.....if Im as frustrated with it all as I am... I can only imagine how other parents are feeling ...especially those as i said who arent very computer savvy. Put me on facebook...lemme play my games.. let me sign on to AOL n read email etc... but dont expect me to understand jack shit about all these programs!! And what about the students??? How are THEY beinefitting? Seriously.. i want to know!! Parents?? Teachers?? Students??
