Reader Mail (shutdown): "Another good article, good points made. I wouldn’t disagree with you on much here. We Republicans are not going to give citizenship to Illegal Aliens (they’re not “undocumented workers”) under any circumstances because they’re ILLEGAL and they continue to flaunt our sovereignty and laws. Why should we allow such people to jump to the front of the line anyway or for that matter, not to be deported? Just because the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business interests want cheap labor at slave wages is no excuse to allow Illegal Aliens to stay here. As for the Democrats, I think you’re right when you say they’re more concerned with their other constituencies like blue-collar workers and the remaining unions. However, you forgot to mention one factor about President Obama besides his uptick in deportations; that is, he is not going to jeopardize the job market for low skill and unemployed Blacks in favor of Illegal Aliens. Despite the utter stupidity of the “Black Caucus” in Congress, Mr. Obama is not stupid when it comes to this issue. I believe he knows where his bread is buttered here and it’s not with aligning the mythical “rights” of Illegal Aliens with any Black civil rights movement, past or present. Besides, as a lame duck he has more important items on his plate than catering to LULAC or LaRaza. I really don’t think he cares about the Hispanic vote anymore than he cares about the Jewish vote. You’ll note that he is not exactly kissing the Israelis! We, as a nation, as I see it, are going to hell in a hand basket soon enough with gutless politicians who will do anything for reelection rather than thinking long-term about the health of the country. Regardless of one’s politics we cannot continue to take in every unemployed and unemployable person on the planet. How many of Mexico’s unemployed do you think we should let in? How about El Salvador? How many from the Western Hemisphere alone? There has to be a limit and right now we let in 1 million people/year Legally – far too many. If I were you I’d reevaluate your stance on all immigration as it relates to out-of-control population growth and how it detrimentally affects this country. What do you say?"
