PART 2 of 3: (1) I see this object, maybe a couple of inches long coming down out of the clear blue sky, and hovering several feet above me. Naturally, I assumed it was a space alien, but beyond any doubt of extraterrestrial origin. (2) Upon closer examination, it resolved into what I believe to be a bagworm cocoon, noted for incorporating tree crud in its construction. I saw three of them appearing to float in the air within about ten yards of roadway. (3) If you click on this one, the second one I encountered, you can see the silk thread attaching it to the branch above, although I can find no reference on the Internets to bagworm cocoons hanging from trees in this manner. I know at least one amateur entomologist whos an FBF, so perhaps we can get some answers here. In any event, really striking to see these things just floating in the atmos.
