PART I Wowwww!!! What an exciting hour its been! I was out in the garage sanding some more crown moulding (it never ends). Tater was out there with me. Suddenly, something caught the corner of my eye and Tater started making her gnurling sounds like she does when shes excited about something like buzzards flying overhead or a skunk or a squirrel. I catch the lunge of her taut yellow body, and I look over and see the danged biggest snake Ive ever seen - in my garage with me!!!! Apparently, the snake was touring. Leisurely. Passing through. But when Tater saw him, it became a life and death struggle - possibly for both of them (since I didnt know what kind of a snake it was). Taters got the snake in her jaws and Im tugging her away as this snake is coiling and writhing all over her little yellow body. Tate lets go because Im yanking on her collar commanding her to leave it. The snake retreats for the closest tree, which happens to be my sea grape. So the snakes meanders up to the tallest branches to get away from Tater. And while hes getting settled in, sunning himself, I run into the house for my camera. I got some good footage of that snake, let me tell you. Anyway, I was toying with Mr. Snake up in the tree, letting him coil around a broomstick then a piece of wood that were handy. I knew he wasnt an aggressive snake because he was non-confrontational and never struck out. So I caught him. I grabbed my fishing net hanging in the garage and a broom handle and I guided him into the fishing net with the broom handle. Then I carried him and set him free away from the trees. Well, all hell broke loose again. The sequel. The snake decides to go under Mater, my truck, instead of making a beeline for the tall grass. So Tater follows him under there. I cant see either one of them, but I can hear all the ruckus. There all kinds of bumping sounds, and banging, and gnurling noises emerging. Im stooped over trying to look under there, yelling at Tate to let him go (Tate knows those words), and Tate reappears from under the truck clutching the snake in her jaws again. I grab her collar, and she drops the snake (because her healthy fear of her momma overrides her desire to eat that snake). The snake made his getaway. Wow! Nothing like an unexpected snake visitor to get the ol adrenaline going!!!
