PARTS OF EKURHULENI STILL WITHOUT WATER The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is continuing to provide water tankers to areas that are experiencing a water supply interruption due to a power outage experienced at the Rand Water Mapleton Booster station on Wednesday night. Households, schools and businesses in Tsakane, Geluksdal, Duduza, Langaville and Alra Park are still without water while supply has been restored to Springs and Brakpan. Morehill, Crystal Park and parts of Rynfield and Benoni Agricultural Holdings are also still without water. “The power at the pump station was reinstated yesterday and Rand Water began the process of pumping water last night. However, because of the high demand on the network, it is taking a bit longer to restore water to some areas,” explains Ekurhuleni spokesperson Sam Modiba. Residents in Daveyton and Etwatwa are advised to save a little water for domestic purposes as the reservoir supplying their area is also beginning to run low. The Ekurhuleni Metro is, however, providing water tankers to the areas without water and has redeployed those that were servicing Springs and Brakpan. The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and assures residents that it will work together with Rand Water to resolve the problem.
