PASTORAL CHANGE AT GOOD SHEPHERD Our pastor, Rev. Dr. Doug Ralston, will be leaving us to begin serving the people of Dearborn Good Shepherd UMC. While we are saddened by Pastor Dougs departure, we are very pleased and excited to announce that Bishop Deborah Kiesey has appointed Rev. Carter Grimmett to serve as pastor of our church. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2014. Rev. Grimmett brings many gifts and graces of ministry to share with our congregation including a passion for preaching, teaching, music, engaging the community, and a sense of humor. Carter has previously served Conant Avenue UMC, Westland St. James UMC, Inkster Christ UMC, and is currently serving Detroit Peoples and Detroit Calvary UMCs. He attended Tuskegee University in Alabama, Wayne State, Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit and is a graduate of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Carter was recipient of the 2008 Ecumenical Theological Seminary Distinguished Alumni Award. Rev. Carter Grimmett has served on a number of conference and district committees and is currently serving on the Renaissance District Committee on Ordained Ministry and the Detroit Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. Rev. Grimmett brings a wealth of pastoral experience and training that he will be able to share with our congregation and help lead us into the future. We are also pleased to welcome Rev. Grimmett’s wife Toni who is the Immediate Past President of the Detroit Renaissance District United Methodist Women and currently serves on the Renaissance District’s Committee on Superintendency.
