PASTORS PERSPECTIVE “Wow!” We heard that word many times - TopicsExpress

PASTORS PERSPECTIVE “Wow!” We heard that word many times last Sunday as we pulled out all the stops for a two hour worship service in the sanctuary that was then followed by a magnificent banquet that packed our MAC Hall. In so many ways it was a joyous and thoroughly uplifting day and weekend, all to the glory of God, as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Lake Travis United Methodist Church. Many of you who were not familiar with him now understand why we were so enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring Ken Medema to offer a concert on Saturday and musical leadership for Sunday. In so many ways throughout the weekend Ken touched our hearts and inspired us to new levels of discipleship. Bobbye Meek, who chaired the anniversary task force, and an entire army of 25th Anniversary workers, did a tremendous job of planning the work and working the plan. Bobbye reminded us of how our “can do” spirit transforms us again and again into a very effective congregation, capable of major accomplishments. Thank you to all of you who helped and participated in any way. We shared together in one of those peak moments of ministry that helps remind us of the fullness of our life in Christ and the passion of our journey in discipleship. As we catch our breath this week, may God help us as we apply ourselves to the calling of Christ in this new year. I am personally grateful for the opportunity to share with this congregation in our common ministry of sharing and living the gospel of Jesus Christ.
