PATHETIC INTERNET SERVICES BY ZAMTEL AND OTHERS Dear Zambian Watchdog, Kindly withhold my Identity. I would like through your media to express my (and many others) disappointment at services being offered by ISPs in this country Zamtel ADSL in particular. For the last few months they have been telling clients that they are upgrading the system to a fibre network in which period the internet was on and off on a daily basis. Six months down the line things are only getting worse. As i write to you we have had no internet for 3 days and their customer care line 111 (which you can try and see if you get through) is constantly off probably to avoid clients. This service costs us K900 every month and we get service for a few days in a month, no official apology has come from their end or explanation apart from telling customer care agents to tell clients to REBOOT THE MODEM!, one has to literally sit next to the modem to constantly reboot to be able to do anything on the internet on days when the intermittent service is available. Moving on to AIrtel, not too long ago a number of clients had airtime wrongly deducted on their accounts am not sure how far that situation has gone, not to mention the constant complaints from Airtel clients of the poor internet service they are currently getting. My question is do we have a body that regulates and puts quality control measures on these ISPs apart from ZWD and social media in general which seems to have taken over to listen to the cries of people in all areas of the economy in this country? Please ZWD help us as internet (ZWD in particular) is the only way we are kept to date with happenings around us as most media houses are compromised. Yours faithfully Disappointed Zambian.
