PATIENCE IS AN ACTION WORD “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. “ Hebrews 6:12 To achieve your goals in life, you have got to develop an attitude of treating obstacles as exactly what they are- distractions that must not be allowed. Patience, persistence or perseverance has been advocated as prerequisite virtues in the attaining success. No arguments. But patience or perseverance often times is exercised on one side of the stumbling block. This is wrong. You don’t persist or perseverance in the face of a problem, you persevere through it. I hear a lot of people say “I have been patient”; “I have been persevering.” And I always feel like hollering: “Doing what?” Don’t have patience in the face of a problem; let patience take you through the body of the problem. Patience is not a sleeping pill, it is an energizer. It’s not a red light sign; it’s a green light sign. Let me give you some examples. Clement Hofbauer was on a tour begging for his poor neglected people. A man, after being asked for alms, spat into the face of the saint. “That was for me,” the saint replied. “Now do you have something for the poor?” Clement was patient here, but he didn’t allow his patience stop him from pushing forward with his goal. You can’t be patient on one side of the obstacle… go through it. Henderson, the actor was an extremely patient man. He was one day debating with a Fellow student at Oxford. At one point the student lost his control and threw a glass of wine in the actor’s fact. Henderson calmly took out his handkerchief, wiped his face, and then coolly said, “That, sir, was a digression; now for the argument.” Don’t be patient doing nothing. Don’t persevere just waiting around. Patient is a verb not a noun. LET’S PRAY: I declare over your destiny that no difficulty, trial, obstacle, pain, or trouble you are going through right now will stop you. It will not immobilize or make you retarded or inactive; you will go through that difficulty and come out great in Jesus Mighty Name. SUCCESS ACTIVITY: Get busy while you wait. CONFESSION: I’m a winner!
