PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR DME ORTHOPAEDICS & PAIN MANAGEMENT $13 - $15 per hour Reporting to the Manager of Orthotics and Pain Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing order processing (order intake, verification of benefits, records imaging and customer relations). This position requires medical billing experience, and an understanding of Medicare and major insurance payor claim requirements (claims processing back-end). The role involves interaction with external customers including patients, physicians, and physician office staff, external partners in third party billing and payor relations, as well as internal partners in Sales, Marketing, IT, Operations, and Finance. Critical Requirements • Experience with processing medical equipment orders, relating to DME (durable medical equipment). • Ability to communicate benefits, deductibles and copays to patient. Negotiation skills and knowledge of all aspects of payor systems including: private/commercial, self-insured employers, workers compensation, and government programs. • Strong knowledge of Medicare Supplier Standards, ICD9 (ICD-10) Coding and DMEPOS Coding protocols, electronic billing transmittal requirements. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Collect, evaluate, and submit all documentation necessary for pre-authorization, billing and patient copays. • Interact with sales representatives, Healthcare providers and office staff, and patients to obtain required documentation when applicable. • Track orders to insure accuracy and timeliness of delivery for billing. • Negotiate payment terms for equipment and supplies with patients utilizing sales techniques to gain patient acceptance during indirect sales process. • Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures related to the Company’s Corporate Compliance/HIPAA Programs. Ensure established practices are in compliance with Medicare, CHAP and other regulatory agencies. QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE • Qualification Minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience in billing activities with a medical device or medical service company that performs Medicare and other health insurance reimbursement functions. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Highly structured approach with attention to detail and proper documentation of all work • Adaptability to handle changing priorities in a high volume, fast-paced work environment. • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
