PATRIOTS AGREE TO TERMS WITH WR BRANDON LAFELL The New England Patriots and former Panthers wide receiver Brandon LaFell reached an agreement on a three-year, $11 million deal on Saturday night, ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound LaFell played his entire four-year career in Carolina. Last year he started all 16 games for the Panthers and caught a career-high 49 passes for 627 yards and five touchdowns. LaFell was drafted in the third round by the Panthers in 2010 out of LSU. LaFell’s signing with the Patriots really put a big hurt on the Panthers, who were hoping to re-sign him. During the first few days of the free agent frenzy Carolina has lost also lost wide receivers Steve Smith (Ravens) and Ted Ginn (Cardinals). The acquisition of LaFell comes on the same day the Patriots re-signed Julian Edelman. Already on the roster were Danny Amendola, Aaron Dobson, and Kenbrell Thompkins. The Patriots also are reportedly hoping to sign former Titans WR Kenny Britt. (Photo: Mike McCarn/Associated Press)
