PAUL CHEN ROCK REPORT! Off the Moehau ranges yesterday with Capt Paul Senior on Bluewater Charters in 42 was where we hooked into some hard pulling spring males between 4 – 7kgs. It was an afternoon bite with the outgoing tide when it sparked. Using only the new Ocean Angler Gravity rods and Flip it jigs. They were absolutely devastating on the snapper! However, with the strong westerly forecast for this weekend we got to fish the shallows off; Takapuna, East Coast Bays and Whangaparoa Bay. Use lots of salmon berley and strayline baits like blue mackerel and red plate pillies. For soft baiting try the Gulp Nemesis 4 baits that we have exclusively at Top Catch, in 6 great colours the pepper prawn has been going off in the shallower waters.
