PAWS is deeply saddened and disappointed by the actions taken yesterday by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Game Wardens with regard to the mountain lion in Paris. The mandate of KDFW should be to preserve and protect Kentucky wildlife. When we reported the animal sighting to them yesterday, we had expected them to pursue a humane solution, such as sedation and removal to a sanctuary. Killing the animal seems unnecessary and unjustifiable. Furthermore, taking trophy photographs featuring the wardens involved and allowing the photos to be distributed widely through social media outlets is highly unprofessional.
