PAY YOUR TAXES, LIKE ME With a good amount of hope that major corruption crimes are being prosecuted, I am ready to pay my income tax on April 15, 2014. For the 2013 tax year, I have helped the government by giving life to my six personal staffers, without failing on their salaries. I have also helped the government by taking on lots of pro bono clients. These are my partial repayments to the State that fully funded my tuition and board and lodging as well as books and school supplies as a full scholar civil engineering student of Mindanao State University - Marawi. These are also my partial repayments to the City of Manila that made me a scholar of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Law. In 2013, I have tremendously spent so much for utilities that also paid parts of their taxes coming from my payments, including electric bills that averaged P7,000, internet and telephone for P2,500 a month, water P800, cable P500, Globe subscription at P2,500. I also spent P15,000 a month for my office, P15,000 a month for my new modest car I use everyday in attending hearings, P20,000 a month in gasoline, P5,000 in office supplies, P12,000 a month for apartment, etc., P5,000 a month for my insurance, P1,760 for my SSS, P1,500 for my SSS loan, etc. On top of these, I also pay for the tuition of several of my nephews and nieces, gave at least P10,000 a month for my septuagenarian father and mother, pay for our daily foods at P20,000. At every end of the month, I end up with so little in my savings.
