PB-USA, Prov’l gov’t to perk up export of Pangasinan products DAGUPAN CITY— Pangasinan Brotherhood-United States of America, Inc. (PB-USA) forged a partnership with the provincial government to find markets for Pangasinan indigenous products in the US and elsewhere. During the trade seminar conducted by the PB-USA for local entrepreneurs last September 21 at the Leisure Coast Resort, Dagupan City, the organization- through its President Eddie Ferrer- disclosed that there are a number of US companies that are interested in importing merchandises such as religious articles, toys, kitchenware, hardware, and agriculture products from the province. Ferrer- also the owner of E.C. Ferrer Customs Broker, Inc. based in Longbeach, California- said that he has already talked with about 75-100 companies, some of which being owned by PB-USA members, interested in the export venture. “Most of these companies- when they want to import your products- are willing to extend their technologies,” said Ferrer reminding the local producers that they need not have big capitals to pursue with the export business. Also, he noted, various goods from different local producers can be shipped in just one cargo so as to slash some fees. Ferrer said that a US businessman has signified an intention to transfer his business to a southeast Asian country, possibly (Pangasinan) Philippines. “Such will further generate livelihood for the province, in case,” he said. On one hand, the provincial government represented by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan, guaranteed its support to the Pangasinense-entrepreneurs. He then reminded them to assure “Pangasinan’s Best” products: of high quality, and proper packaging, and enough volume that the market will soon demand. Baraan also thanked PB-USA for bringing in an opportunity for their fellows to tap the international market, as well. "The provincial government is very willing to attract as much investments as possible," Board Member Ranjit Shahani, who also addressed the seminar participants, said. The partnership is expected to bolster the thrust of Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. in making Pangasinan “the best place to invest and work” into reality. Ferrer pointed out the significant role of the Port of Sual project in boosting the province’s economy. "If the Port of Sual gets activated, that would be the history of Pangasinan," he said citing Pangasinan- being a gateway to southeast Asia- will have a more convenient trading link to other countries as Hongkong, Taiwan, and Vietnam, among others.
