PBMF TO HOST SOCIAL MEDIA PANEL THURSDAY: The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation will host a social media panel discussion during its general-body meeting Thursday. The panel, “Social Media: Branding, Digging & Storytelling,” is part of PBMF’s Professional Development Series. Attendees will learn how to use Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to delve deeper into reporting topics, and how to use video and photography for better storytelling in journalism. The session also will address personal and corporate branding for public relations professionals, finding one’s social media voice and preventing and addressing public missteps. The panelists will be Sarah Glover, social media editor at NBC10 in Philadelphia (appearing via Skype); Matt Neistein, assistant multimedia editor at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; and PBMF member Tiasha Stevenson, senior account supervisor at MARC USA. PBMF Community Service Chair Clarece Polke, who is a reporter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, will moderate. Refreshments will be served. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. PBMF meets in the Conover Room in Chatham Universitys Mellon Center, which is on Woodland Road. Parking is free.
