Mr. Webers motive is presumably a desperate cry for somebody (especially dog-whistle sensitive teabaggers) to notice him. He is the replacement for Ron Paul and those crazy little elf shoes are mighty hard to fill. Divas are always hard to follow and Ron Paul is definitely a Tea Party Diva. Enter Republican Representative Steve Stockman. He is in a tough Senate primary race against incumbent John Cornyn. So any publicity, especially free publicity, is a feather in his tea bag hat. Take that Cornyn! You stayed to the end. Wimp. Socialist Obama-lover! Youre probably coming for our guns next! Stockman made a show of walking out mid-speech.. Tonight I left early after hearing how the President is further abusing his Constitutional powers, Stockman told the Dallas Morning News in a statement. I could not bear to watch as he continued to cross the clearly-defined boundaries of the Constitutional separation of powers. Needless to say, I am deeply disappointed in the tone and content of tonight’s address. (HuffPost) The charge these opportunists have leveled against the President is that he is a dictator...arrogantly stepping all over his Constitutional powers on his way to running the country via executive fiat. This, because the President has given notice that due to the unprecedented obstructionism of the last six years, he is prepared to use executive orders to move forward on background checks for guns and minimum wage hike for federal contract workers. Oh, the hubris! Executive orders are the discretion of presidential powers. They can be used in certain circumstances and for certain types of legislation. Todays Republicans are fond of acting as if this president is inventing the executive order privilege as some mad Socialist power-grab. They are either historically illiterate, purposefully misleading, or like all elephants, have a woefully short memory. President Obama has invoked the executive order fewer times than any president (including the Republican ones) than any other Chief Executive in 100 years. A funny thing happened on the way to Obama is dictator who is taking away all of guns Republican Memeville. New York Magazine crunched the numbers of presidential executive orders and concluded that this president has issued the fewest executive orders of any president over the last 100 years. Every Republican president signed more executive orders than Barack Obama has. On an order per day basis, Obama has issued fewer EOs than every single Republican president over the past century. (Politicsusa) So, going back to the definition of dictator it would appear that either this president doesnt qualify or every president of the last hundred years does. Republicans who are using this charge and ramping up hysteria to gain political points and attention are missing the most important thing.
