PDP Crisis: Presidency cannot intimidate us- Sule Lamido Premium Times - 1 min ago Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has said that the federal government or any of its proxies cannot intimidate the seven governors who are fighting for the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The Jigawa State Governor and six other state governors, including Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, are some of the leaders of the factional PDP tagged New PDP; who are believed to be opposed to the re-election plan of President Goodluck Jonathan. Mr. Lamido spoke in Sokoto on Tuesday during the commissioning of 5km township road project executed by the state government across the 23 local government headquarters. “Leadership must be genuine, sincere and also have honest leaders. Leaders who believe that in leadership, there is what we call responsibility; what we call transparency and what we call rule of law,” the Jigawa governor said. “It is because we share these aspirations that we are united; so much that no matter what, no matter the level of intimidation or sponsored articles to harass us or blackmail us, we will stand by the truth.” Mr. Lamido also commended the Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko, for his performance in office. “To us, leadership is a trust bestowed by God. The government we lead is owned by the people. We, as governors, are so honoured and privileged to serve our own people. “As I can see today in Sokoto, people here own their government and because they own it, they can defend it anywhere,” he said. He described Mr. Wamakko as a true and honest leader. “In the Caliphate, leadership is meant for the people; leadership is simply called rendering service to the people,” he said. Mr. Wamakko, in his earlier remark, stated that leaders “are duty bound to reciprocate for the mass support that we enjoy.” The five kilometer township roads across the 23 local governments of the state were flagged off in November 2012 at a total cost of N5.3 billion.
