PDP ‘infighting’: Case against Sarpanch, cops for threatening PDP leader: Srinagar, June 20: Police on Friday registered a case against two policemen and a village head after a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader’s security guards allegedly harassed and humiliated another party leader inside his house in Ganderbal district, sources told GNS on Friday The security guards of PDP leader, Bashir Ahmad Mir, along with a Sarpanch allegedly entered the house of another PDP leader and party’s District Coordinator Irfan Naqashbandi in Kangan ‘in search of Zonal president Mushtaq Ahmad’. “Basically, Irfan Naqashbandi opposes Bashir Ahmad as PDP’s candidate for Assembly elections from Ganderbal and they are not in good terms with each other. Mushtaq, who is party’s Zonal president is on the side of Irfan and in search of him, the security guards of Bashir along with Sarpanch went to the house of Irfan and allegedly humiliated and harassed his family,” Sources said. Irfan Naqashbandi, soon after the incident, went to police station and lodged a complaint against the security guards of Bashir. Police have registered an FIR 45/2014 under sections 451 and 506 against Head Constable Abdul Rashid (belt number 56/GBL) Special Police Officer (SPO) Mushtaq Ahmad (belt number 154/G) and Sarpanch Ghulam Rasool Mir, official sources said. “Yes, we have registered a case against three persons including two police men and a Sarpanch. The investigations are on,” a senior police official confirmed to GNS. Meanwhile, Irfan Naqashbandi told GNS: “They entered into my house. They humiliated as well as threatened us. My family and children were there. They threatened to shoot us dead. They even said that Bashir ‘sahab’ will burn your house and your village. The PDP leader said he fails to understand why Bashir did all this. “So what his men did, I think it was enough for lodging an FIR.” “We will be the party. We will not allow hooligans and hooliganism in the party and would fight them,” he said adding: “I have never been for mandate neither I am against Bashir Ahmad. But party workers should be taken into confidence over mandate. Mushtaq had issued a press note and I think that fumed up Bashir. But that press release was in favor of party.” Bashir Ahmad Mir, on the other side, alleged that Irfan is on the pay roll of National Conference (NC). “Basically it is National Conference (NC) which is doing all this. It is not any issue. There is no eyewitness to it. I myself was at home with my PSOs at that time. None of my PSOs went to anyone’s house. The NC’s Mian Altaf is panicked with my performance,” he said, adding: “Irfan Naqashbandi is a close ally of NC…He tried his hard to get mandate. NC also tried to get mandate for him so that Mian Altaf could easily win,” he said, adding the people have rejected him and that is why he is accusing us of all these things.
