Sources at the PDP national secretariat said the committee, in its report, which had been submitted to President Goodluck Jonathan as the party leader, recommended that any attempt to have primaries would lead to crisis in the party, citing the protracted crisis that emanated from the March 2012 state congress. The sources said yesterday that majority of aspirants that were screened had preference for consensus and would prefer zoning of the governorship to the South if need be. They said that the result of the screening showed that the best three aspirants were from the Southern senatorial district while the fourth and fifth were from the Central senatorial district. This was just as cleared aspirants have been invited for a meeting in Abuja on Saturday night with the Consensus Committee of the party headed by a prominent leader of the party from the South West. Meanwhile, the PDP in the state has postponed the primaries earlier scheduled for Saturday by a week to enable the contribution of all members to the continuous Voter’s Registration Exercise which began in the state yesterday.
