PDP to stake claim for Govt formation, Mufti may take oath on Jan 4 Asks BJP to take Deputy CMs post, 8 ministerial berths 12/30/2014 12:27:05 AM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Dec 29: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is all set to stake claim for the next government formation in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday when PDP president Mehbooba Mufti would meet the Governor N N Vohra here. A source told Early Times that PDP has kept all the options open and has given 2-days to Bhartiya Janta Party to decide its future course of action. The PDP and BJP have agreed on almost all the points accept the post of Chief Minister, which PDP wants for all the six years, while BJP is insisting on rotational Chief Minister and wants to have the top post for the first three years, the source added. BJP being adamant on having a rotational Chief Minister has forced the PDP to keep other alliance options open particularly with Congress and a few Independents, who have already announced their support to minus BJP government in the State, he said. The PDP insiders said the party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is all set to take oath as next Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on, 4 January 2015. If BJP fails to clear its position in next two days, particularly before the meeting of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti with Governor N N Vohra on Wednesday, PDP would be left with no other option; but to stake claim for government formation in the state with the help of five independent candidates and Congress who have already extended unconditional support to the party. Sources said PDPs first choice is BJP as it would ensure free flow of funds to the State from centre that can help the government to clear the liabilities of several hundred Crores left by the outgoing NC-Congress regime in past six years. Both the parties have finalized all the modalities and PDP is even ready to give its claim on the post of Home Minister and Power Ministry demanded by the BJP, they said, adding that it would be for the first time in past 40-years that any Chief Minister of JK would sacrifice Home Ministry. Sources said that all the political parties including National Conference are not in favour of Governors rule. In case Mufti Sayeed government after staking claim would require to prove its majority on the floor of the House, the NC MLAs will too vote for him to keep the BJP away from the power in Jammu and Kashmir, beside to prevent implementation of Governors rule in the state PDP has made it clear to BJP to take the final call on whether the party wants to be the part of the government with Deputy Chief Ministers post along with 8 Ministerial births or not, they added. Sources said that if alliance between PDP and BJP is finalized, both the parties will focus on developmental agendas and wont raise the controversial issues like Article 370 and Self Rule
