PDP will empower youth Srinagar, Jan 20: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing in charge, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra has said the youth have an important role to play to change the governance narrative in the state and this year offers them a chance to establish a new structure where they can live with pride without any fear and repression. Interacting with the youth on the party’s ‘Youth For Change’ programme at Muran, Belaw and Turkehwangam in Pulwama and Shopian district, he said the time is ripe that the young population shall come out of the preconceived notions and play a decisive role in developing a system which shall take care of their emotions and aspirations in the most respectable way. He said there is an enough need to move ahead with the hope that we can find solution, to every problem we face, in a democratic and decent way and the PDP, with the help of people and sincere leadership, has the capability and courage to rewrite a new chapter in the history of the state. Meanwhile, party senior leader and MLA Bijbehara Abdul Rehman Veeri has condemned the police action against the demonstrators, in parts of South Kashmir, who were protesting against the prevailing power crisis. In a statement, he said the Power Development Department is absolutely under starvation because of the shortage of funds and now the people are forced to collect money and get damaged transformers repaired on their own. He criticised the government of failing to establish transformer banks at all district headquarters, which it had announced with much fanfare.
