“PEOPLE SHOULD OBEY LAWS”- WILLIAM NYANUE Former President William Nyanue says the only way for a thriving GGAA is for every president to observe the rule of law. He was responding to a question posed by moderator Samson Toe during the ‘Samson Toe Show’ on Liberia Public Radio. “How much money should we spend on cure rather than trying to prevent a catastrophe? We should be looking at a solution that is not costly for all of us by understanding to minimize setbacks,” he warned. Nyanue words of caution come on the heels of Richard Dayway’s unceremonious resignation on 9/30/14wherein the former National Treasurer laid the blame squarely on the Collins Administration for failing to account for people’s money. According to the former president Article V Section 3 gives the National Board Chairman the right to investigate and reprimand any elected officer or a board member for serious bridge of trust and extended to embezzlement and/or misappropriation of the Associations funds as enshrine in our laws. “They’ve lost sight of the whole objective for which this organization was founded; this happened when they started placing themselves in camps of RUSH, UNITY & DADUAO,” adding the goal is to help Grand Gedeans on the homeland but unfortunately it has acquired some level of polarity. He said many Liberian Organizations continue to suffer from similar conduct. “The rationale for Article X Section 4 of the GGAA revised constitution is to deter unscrupulous behavior especially for those who might refuse to turn over after their term has expired.” That constitutional provision reads in part: “Turning over of Financial and other Records During an election year for the National Administration, the Board of Directors shall assume temporary management of the Association’s finances, including all bank accounts, beginning the Friday immediately preceding the National Conference and until a new administration has been sworn-in. Meanwhile, the former president assured moderator Samson Toe that he will do everything within is confines to intervene in the current fracas but warned that with the growing level of distrust it is hard to determine who would yield first.
