Ellen Pompeo (Favorite Dramatic TV Actress) and Patrick Dempsey (Favorite Dramatic TV Actor) took home trophies for their roles in Grey’s Anatomy, which won Favorite Network TV Drama. In movies, Maleficient, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Downey Junior each earned two awards. Downey thanked supporters at home and in the audience with a quote from two-year-old Exton, who told his mom earlier that day, “I want to eat you up, and you’re never going anywhere. Favorite Comedic Movie Actress went to Melissa McCarthy, who got a shout-out from Betty White in her acceptance speech for Favorite TV Icon win. The 93-year-old joked, “When Melisssa McCarthy said she said that shed stay as long as you let her, well, youve abused the privilege with me. Ben Affleck received the PCAs’ Favorite Humanitarian award in recognition of his work with Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI), which he founded in 2010. He also enjoyed a trophy win as Gone Girl took Favorite Thriller Movie. Only three music categories made it to air. Favorite Country Group went to Lady Antebellum, and the win fell on singer Hillary Scott’s third wedding anniversary. Hunter Hayes delivered his first moment of PDA at an awards show when he kissed girlfriend Libby Barnes upon winning Favorite Male Country Artist. Iggy Azalea was visibly star-struck at presenter Dax Shephard when he handed her a trophy for Favorite Hip Hop Artist. After years of not missing an awards show, Taylor Swift was not on hand to receive three statues -- for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Song (for Shake It Off). Co-hosts Anna Faris and Allison Janney kicked off the night with a taped segment involving Anna’s husband Chris Pratt. During the monologue, Twitter lit up over Allison’s cleavage. User@MeeganHolland posted, “Watching the @peopleschoice awards and am mesmerized by @AllisonBJanneys cleavage makeup. Its positively sculptural!” While fashion tape worked double to keep Allison from popping out of her low-cut gown, she joked about the perks of hosting the first award show of the season. She said, You can see everyone before they get down to their Oscar weight. Performances by Lady Antebellum (“Freestyle”), Fall Out Boy (“Centuries”) and Iggy Azalea (“Beg for It”) rounded out the night.
