PEOPLES COURT: POLITICO APC is finished in Borno says Sheriff Former Governor of Borno State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, has predicted the collapse of the ruling party structures in the state. He made the prediction preparatory to dumping the party and joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 general elections. Last Monday in Maiduguri at the Borno Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum (BSCF) in Bulunkutu ward of the metropolis, Sheriff claimed that the likely collapse of the APC was however attributed to “bad leadership, misappropriation of public funds, self interests and alleged segregation adopted by the Shettima administration for over three years.” The former governor was also in Maiduguri in continuation of his consultation with Borno APC supporters, in preparation for his formal declaration and eventual defection into the PDP before the end of the year. It was learnt that despite the closure of the Maiduguri International Airport by the Federal Government, Sheriff was allowed to land in a chartered flight by 1.35pm amid a huge crowd of APC and PDP supporters and loyalists. With him were the House of Representative members, including, Abdulrahman Terab representing Bama/Ngala/Kalabalge federal constituency; Isa Lawan Kangar (Guzamala/Kukawa); and Peter Biye Gumtha (Damboa/Gwoza/Chibok) in Borno State. While briefing newsmen on his triumphant entry into Maiduguri, Sheriff said: “I personally came to fraternise with my people and political party supporters over my thought-out plans and strategies to defect from APC to the PDP, which I think and optimistic, the only political in Borno State party that can change the lives of the people positively. “Borno is my place. I came to consult with my people over my plans to defect from the APC, a political party that has no foundation. fter the Ramadan fast, I am going to formally decamp into the PDP fold, and we are going to tour all the 27 local government areas of the state. It is from there that I will use the opportunity and apologise to them over the predicaments they had been facing under this present administration.” Sheriff claimed that the rate of poverty, maladministration, and total neglect of the plight of the masses by the present government posed a serious concern to him, as he had served the state for two terms in office. He said: “(Governor Kashim) Shettima was a commissioner during my tenure. I was the one that hold(sic) his hand and seek(sic) the mandate of Borno people to elect him as governor with the hope that he would carry everybody alone. Unfortunately, I made a wrong choice, as majority of the people and the electorate have been pushed to the dustbin with only a few, including Shettima’s associates, friends and family eating fat on this government. This is not democracy and Insha Allah, this dictatorial government is parking out after 2015 general elections, so as to pave way for collective governance.” On his defection to the PDP, he said: “I was into politics for the past 30 years. You journalists know that I was Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for three terms, and served as elected governor of this state for eight years. “And when you said we formed a party with Shettima, I believe you are not right because when we started playing politics, Shettima had not even finished school, not to even come and serve as commissioner under my cabinet. “All I can say is that, by God’s grace, we are going to make sure that this government parked out of the Government House and replaced by a PDP man come 2015, as it is glaring on the faces that Shettima has failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state. “Despite the mandate we gave him, he (Shettima) chose to abuse the mandate of the electorate, and that is what the people don’t want in any democratically elected government.” Sheriff recalled the scene at the airport, stressing, “You have seen the mammoth crowd that received me. I didn’t tell anybody that I am coming to Maiduguri today. In fact, the only persons that know of my coming are my family members and nobody else. “But look at how people were jubilating of(sic) my coming to the extent that they were chanting that they were tired with this government, and God’s willing, we are going to wipe out the tears on their faces come 2015.” PDP Flags were pasted on the Airport road, Bulunkutu and Gomari wards of Maiduguri, including the rear window shields of over 750 taxis cabs hired by the former governor for his successful entry for consultations with his political associates and party supporters. But barely taking off at the airport to Abuja on Monday afternoon, the PDP flags were replaced by APC youth supporters, leaving only the ones at the venue (Bulunkutu) where Sen. Sheriff addressed the people on his planned defection to the PDP Publisher’s Comment: Welcome to era of legalized impunity by President GEJ. People’s Court earlier learnt that it was only Sheriff that was alone to use the airport while the Governor was denied access. Welcome to Gestapo era of President Jonathan! Nigeria democracy is on trial waiting for military to hijack soon. I weep for my nation as it failed to learn from bitter experience of the past. As a Legal prophet, I pray earnest for God’s mercy on the masses. God bless Nigeria, because 2015……….
