PEOple :) Had the opportunity to visit Le Plaisir Patisserie and Bistro On Bhandarkar Road. Before I review the place, I must add that it pleases me no end to see so many first time entrepreneurs give wings to their dreams. Being one myself (and Im sure many of you are as well), I can say it is a highly rewarding journey although it can be perilous at times :) Le Plaisir has been around for a while now and its a tribute to SIddharth Mahadik and his team to produce such good quality consistently. Siddharth has trained at the iconic Le Cordon Bleu academy in Australia. Im not surprised given the quality of the output his team and he deliver :) Right, so now for my experience: We visited this place after a good friend of mine praised it to the sky. We visited on an early Saturday Afternoon. The place was pretty packed (not surprising, since its quite tiny). Whats that old adage they say about all good things coming in small sizes? Well, there cant be a better example of that than Le Plaisir. We ordered the following: Orange & Chocolate Mousse Cake: The cake was perfectly moist with the right amount of zing and sweetness. Personally I prefer the chocolate a lot more bitter than 45% cocoa but then thats me. For regular chocloate lovers, it is a delicious offering. Chocolate Eclairs: Before I had these here, Forennte was my benchmark for Chocolate Eclairs. But like I said, that was BEFORE I tried them here. The Chocolate Eclairs at Le Plaisir is unlike any Ive had here in Pune. Absolutely bursting with flavour. Not to mention the crunchy yet soft casing. Kiwi Cream Pastry: I cant remember the last time I had such good quality cream on a pastry. An absolute ripper of a pastry. THe good part was that the Kiwi wasnt all that sweet (wonder if it was intentional) which gave the pastry a pretty dramatic twist. Pasta Aglio Olio : Le Plaisir makes some pretty good Aglio Olio pasta. Whilst traditionally this is prepared with Spaghetti, they make it with Linguini (which isnt bad at all). The Aglio Olio Linguini comes with a welcome addition of Cherry tomatos and olives along and finely cut fresh red chillies. Now the red chillies again are a welcome replacement to chilli flakes. In fact, the original recipe demands fresh chillies. So well done guys. The Pasta was cooked well (they can make it al dente if you request for it) and the olive oil quantity was perfect. Egg Brioche with Toast: Another good dish wherein the Brioche was cooked perfectly. The butter and salty flavour complement the taste of the bread. The brioche in itself was light and fluffy. Good dish without being too filling. All i all, it is a place Id visit again. And again. I can see why my friend was praising it to the sky. After eating their Chocolate eclairs even I would :)
