PERFORMERS GETTING PAID Payments from Venues seem to be harder - TopicsExpress

PERFORMERS GETTING PAID Payments from Venues seem to be harder and harder to come by, with the advent of delayed payments of 7, 14 and 21 days. Most larger companies withhold wages and there will be many excuses the main one being company protocol. Your contract terminology is important with regards your payments and how long before you get paid. What ever you agree to is up to you, but remember contracted agreements really do need to be of benefit to BOTH parties not just a larger company withholding money so they can earn a little more interest. If you have no contract in place and no agreement for a delayed payment, ALL gigs must be paid at the completion of your performance either by cheque or cash. If you walk away from one of these gigs without payment, you may never get the money owed to you. Not saying all venues are like this some are true to their word and will pay you, but ensure you have your agreement for payment in place well in advance of your performance. Contracts are important for ALL gigs. Payment is REQUIRED on the completion of your service in performance and with a contract in place, at least you will have a legal stance to get the money owed to you. - Entertainment VENUE Reporter
