PG tip of the week: It seems to be a commonly believed myth that dogs are colour blind. After research scientists have proved that dogs can see colours, although not as many as us. This is because humans have 3 types of cones in the retina of the eye which help them identify colours whereas dogs only have 2 types. This means that dogs have difficulty differentiating between different shades of some colours like red, green or blue. So for example if you throw a green toy onto grass and your dog runs past it, it may not be that he/ she is stupid or stubborn - your dog may just not be able to see it.
