Burning sun, smiling people, constant traffic jams, long distances. These are the plus and minus sides of Los Angeles in a nutshell, when Pia Lamberg (formerly Pakarinen) and Sauli Koskinen start telling about their lives in the City of Angels. Sauli, 28, moved to the city in the beginning of 2011 because of his partner at the time, singer Adam Lambert. For her part, 22 years old Pia left Finland last year. - I feel so much at home here that I really don’t think I could even come back and live in Finland anymore, Pia admits while we are sitting in a traffic jam in the middle of the green Beverly Hills. - I’ve fallen so much in love with this culture and goings-on here that I want to live here in the future too, at least a part of the year, Sauli continues. The duo met when Sauli was shooting his own TV program which will air on Fox Channel (Finland) next fall. In the program he gets to know some of the local Finns and their lives in California. - Pia is a really lovely, cute and sweet person. She has her feet steadily on the ground, even though she too has seen all kinds of things. Not many Finns have done the things that Pia has already done, Sauli says. On her behalf, Pia gets energy from Sauli’s positivity and his energy. The duo has spent time together for example at the May Day party organized by the Finns and at a Finnish Consulate’s reception. - The Finns here keep in touch with each other a lot, even though we are all very different kind of persons. We all value each other, because moving in here for sure has not been the easiest way to make one’s dreams come true for anyone of us. In addition to his Finnish friends, Sauli has also been in the celebrity parties of the Hollywood Jet set partying with Katy Perry and Kelly Osbourne among others. - I enjoy my friends’ birthday parties just as much as being in Elton John’s Oscar party. I can’t even think those big celebrity parties being some kind of special occasions. They are parties just like any other party is. Like many other locals, Pia and Sauli have in common active training and healthy lifestyle. They both eat lots of salad and fruit, drink health juices and go almost daily to the gym. And it also shows: they both are in top form. - I always have a yoga mat in my car, because I try to work out whenever I have time. I go to bikram-yoga, gym, and I also do cardio kickboxing with which I can get rid of all my aggressions, Pia tells. Sauli pumps iron at the gym and eats superfood. - In LA people train really a lot and I run every day into people who talk about training. At first I thought that I’m not going to get involved with this stuff, but nowadays I make different health juices and eat all kinds of organic stuff, Sauli states. Pia and Sauli have learned to smile even to total strangers. Good manners mean everything. - Here everyone behaves really well, and that’s what’s missing in Finland.
