PISSED OFF - This is too long. I am venting. If I had a semblance of a brain I would not take charge of my medical life. I would just let things slide and wait for consequences. (of course I would be long dead then) Here and there during my summers saga however, there have been so many errors and miscommunications that recently I decided to take things in the my own hands. Like John Wayne. Thats how I had found the infection in the tooth. On my own. Then I made noise about the infection and they did an x-ray and sent to me to the hospitals oral surgeon who (end of August) took one look and gave me an appt for excavating said wisdom tooth Oct 7. Now I had to wait a month somewhere (my new apt wasnt ready) so I came back to this clinic. The report from the concentration camp de luxe that I hated was that my tooth could not be pulled earlier because Draguignans oral surgeon was on holiday the whole month of September. Meanwhile, when I got here, I discovered that the wife of my cardiologist is an oral surgeon. Could she not remove my wisdom tooth? It was an emergency after all. I asked him. But my cardio explained his wife couldnt steal patients from the other oral surgeon. Seemed a flimsy excuse as the first oral surgeon was on a months vacation. So I digested that news and came to this cliniic and was fed a suifficient number of days of amoxicillin (prescription from Drag Oral surgeon came with me here) to quell the infection. It abated. Then yesterday, after ten days without amoxicillin, it came right back. Swelling and pain and other charming symptoms. Uh oh I thought. I am going to have the tooth dug out in a week. If I dont have some antibiotics NOW, he wont be able to operate next Tuesday. So I found his phone # and called his office, expecting him not to be back from holiday yet. Secretary answered. To explain my dilemma I began by saying I was given an appt for an extraction Oct 7 because I had been told Dr L was on holiday all of September which was why my appt could not be moved forward to early Sept. No he wasnt. she said. He was right here. He is right here now. I gasped. Some link or other in this chain of fools had lied to me. Then I said, I need antibiotics. like a junkie. The Dr was yanking out somebody elses teeth. But he could talk and said, I already gave her a prescription. I explained that the clinic people here had wrested it from me when I arrived and the now it was nowhere to be found. So we will send her another one. He said. To the Clinic. Oh merci. said I. Relief. But I still knew that if I did not start the Amoxy today the infection would still be there when I got to my appt. next Tuesday. So I got off the phone with masses of thank yous and a bientots etc. Then I started working on Sabrina, the nurse who was on duty today. She hadnt worked since July so she didnt know the story. I filled her in and begged her for some amoxy. She said she had to ask a doctor to prescribe it. I said please do. The only Dr on today is a rhumatologist. But he knows how to write a prescription and he did. (Thanks Sabrina) I took my first amoxicillin with my dinner (dont ask) and will have same 3 times a day till Oct 7 when I go have Dr. L remove my invisible 40 year old wisdom tooth. I like victories. But I hate liars.
