PK: Measures up to viewers’ expectations…! Director Rajkumar Hirani and Actor Amir Khan team up for this new project, and yet again, strike the right chord with audiences. The movie elaborates on the concept which was noticeably harnessed earlier in the movie ‘Oh My God’. However, Hirani puts it into a wider perspective encompassing almost all religions including Hindu, Muslin, Christian and Sikh etc rendering it much more relevant in the present context where Godmen like Rampal are increasing becoming rampant nationwide, and groups like Islamic State are promulgating medieval thinking and hatred across the globe. Additionally, the movie meticulously strikes hard at our assumption-dominated lives and the utter hypocrisy prevailing in the society. In line with the expectations, Amir, as the protagonist ‘PK’ fits in the titular role to the hilt and emerges as the showstopper. Tight screenplay further enriches the plot, and the way Amir has embraced the Bhojpuri accent and mannerism is exemplary. In essence, the movie doesn’t deny or argues the existence of God, however, it raises several valid questions against the various ways suggested by the so-called Godmen, in the most satirical mode. The love-track featuring Anushka-Sushant is so efficiently integrated within the narration that it not only underpins the story but also helps in establishing the premise from where the movie takes its roots. The supporting actors including Anushka, Sushant, Sanjay and Boman also live up to expectations. Like Hirani’s earlier flicks, this movie also appeals to both masses and classes. In summary, watching PK is NOT a Bhaste-of-Time. A 4-star movie…!
