PLAGUED BY INDECISION (PART III) The right decision at the right time. James 1:8 I read sometime ago that we make 70 conscious and 500 unconscious decision a day. There are many people who are not doing anything about these decision. This is what Joel calls multitude, multitudes in the valley of decision...for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The consequences of this indecision displays itself in the peoples conduct. A wavering and undecided person will do anything that others are doing. Life is full of decisions, success is when we make wise decisions but when we refuse to make decisions at the right time, we may fail. Some people do not know the right time to make decisions and this is one problem many face. The problem is not that they dont want to make the decision, but when to make it. Some of such decisions include: should I sell my house now or later; should I get in or get out?; should I look for another job or continue with the one I have now?; can I go for that car now or later ?e.t.c. James 1:8 says A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. The Greek word for unstable means to stagger about like a drink. When we cannot make up our minds in life, we stagger through life. That is, we waver back and forth, and that causes us stress according to Vernon Caruthers. A young business man went to an older business man seeking his advice. He asked What is the secret of success? . The older man replied making wise decision. The younger man then asked,How can I learn to make wise decisions? , the older man replied From experience. The younger man then asked How do I get experience? ,The older man answered From making dumb decisions. The point I want to make is that if you do not make a wise decision at the right time,it may be the mistake that leads you to failure. Reuben did not get a double portion of his fathers blessings because according to his father, he was unstable as water, Gen 49:4. Jacob told Reuben that if you are unstable as water, you cannot excel. In Genesis 37:12-36, when the brothers of Joseph wanted to kill him, Reuben could not take a decision or say a firm No, he prosponed the decision by saying, let us put him into the pit, with the intention of rescuring him later. In verse 29, when Reuben returned to the pit to rescue Joseph, he found out that he was no longer in the pit. This is the lot of those who prospone taking of decisions or those who take dumb decisions. May God guide you to take the right decision at the right time today, through Jesus Christ our Lord...
