PLANET EARTH- ARE YOU UPSET? The earth shaking under your feet While at home or in the street The roar of Mother Nature For all the abuse she took and the torture We call it Whittier fault a crack in the ground Is this how earth makes her angered sound? Mudslide somewhere snow storm on the other end Windstorms that make the oak tree bend Planet earth, are you upset? Homes sliding, ground so wet Planet earth, have you seen enough? Houses coming down from your bluff Meteors thundering from your sky Should we ask you the reasons why? We cut down your trees your beautiful blanket Leaving you bare unconcerned about your fate Planet earth, are you tired we didn’t care? When we cut your trees and left you bare Planet earth, is this just a warning? To change our ways to your liking Planet earth forgive us for our mistake We’ve noticed your cautioning shake Mother earth give us time to correct For all the pain we caused the planet Planet earth, is it our way of living Or is it our way of being That has you upset and fussing Snowstorm winter and spring Let’s correct our mistake, let’s make things right Forgive each other and stop the fight Let’s love each other like there’s no tomorrow Let’s be there in sadness and sorrow Let’s not turn our head and look the other way Give a helping hand night and day Let’s respect the land under our feet While marching to natures drum beat ~Fanta Hailu 3/30/14
