PLEASE FIND TIME TO READ MY MESSAGE Do we earnestly want peace in Kaduna state? This question is directed to each and every individual in this forum. I discovered this forum is one of the largest among the fora I know so far. It consist of different ethnics, religions and political parties with diverse interests. I felt this discussion will be better handled here. If we earnestly want peace from the bottom of our hearts we can achieve it. We have to follow this simple logic: live and let others live, practice your religion and let others practice theirs. Life is too short to keep living in pains and agonies because of our endless hates for others. We live in the world of multi religions and ethinicities in diversity. God is the maker and owner of our lives with no right for any one to kill some one or commit suicide. For so many ok ward reasons we cut short our lives and claimed its Gods time for us to die. We have the laws of the land, religions that if properly followed to the latest all the atrocities committed in our societies today wouldnt have taken place at all. What binds us together and set limits to some of our atrocities are our laws. If we must live together as brethren then we must do away with the issue of the colour of our skin, faith and origins of our names. What will really bind us together and makes us exceptional is our allegiance and believes to an idea articulated in a declaration made in centuries ago as thus:- We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Today we kept an endless journey, to attain the meanings of those words but with the realities on ground, it appears we have not started the journey. From the historical concept that while these truth may be self acclaimed, they have never been self executing, we do know and affirmed that freedom is from God but such freedom must be secured by we the people he created on earth. Agreed we had a failed governments. From generations after generations of the people, by the people and for the people, to protect and keep safe our founding creed. Before the advent of the colonial masters and post colonialism we fought wars of blames and lost unaccountable numbers of lives and properties beyond measures.. We continue to live on grave yards due to blood drawn by lash and blood drawn by sword and cults related cases, while its evidently known that no union founded on the principle of liberty and equity could survive slavery and freedom together. One must make way for the other, we must choose freedom and forgo slavery. Together, we must resolved that a great state like Kaduna must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from lifes worst hazards and misfortune due to communal crisis, religions and insurgency invaders with our collective supports , for security is every mans business. No single individual nor government can solve the security problems in this state. We need to adjust our mentality for our future generations, we shouldnt allow our children to inherits this blood letting acts of impunity, for they will be more vulnerable than we expect and that will increase their mortality rates. This moment requires one thing:- we must believe that every citizen deserves a basic measure of security and dignity. We must make the hard choice and swallowed our prides and egos for the sake of lasting peace. Our obligations and commitments now are not just for ourselves but to all posterity, failure to do so would betray our children and future generations. We have made enough sacrifices of human lives that are not replaceable and ours also is at cross roads. Until we believe that ending security and lasting peace do not require perpetual war but peaceful reconciliation . We had series of communal crisis in this state, almost all tribes are involved. We have a common enemy which we failed to identify. Now these crisis are taken religions dimensions which is dangerous to our corporate existence. All religions and ethnic groups faced insults and denigration, but its not justification for violence. The response to such insults is what separates people of true faith from those who would use ethnicity and religions as an excuse to acts violently. Once people have duped themselves into delusion, reality is no longer and option but lies and deceits takes centre stage. When we blame politicians and our elites of inciting crisis for political interests, we should also look inward within us, apparently we allowed ourselves to be used as their war tools and resorts to endless hates among ourselves while they enjoy their luxuries. We cannot watch and see innocents men and women bloods spilled in the guise of pushing for democracy. Our wars should be to protect Nigeria sovereignty from external aggression but not internal wars. In times like these, it can easy be despair that our differences are irreconcilable and some mountains are too steep to climb, we concludes there fore never can we reach the level of understanding, peace and unity that we seek, and which I believe the great minds among us can start the initiatives now. In the process of reconciliation we need it in a progressive manner, in progressing reconciliation we dont necessarily need to be compel to settle centuries disputes because you wont have people to give you every history of the crisis. In an attempt to go into details of the crisis we may end up opening old wounds that are just partially healed that may regenerates in to worst case scenerior. We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics or treat name calling as reasonable debates. This is our time, we must act now that todays result will be only partial and foundation for others to build upon, we better get started now or never. All religions preaches peace and harmony and how we co-exist among ourselves, but we had too many wars in the name of religion and ethnicity. Our religions believes and cultural ethics was used as a way to keep people more civil in the old times. We have to work towards building a state where if one person commits a violent act millions of us can stand up and condemn it instead of supporting it. We dont have to shoot first and aim later. We often heard preachers of different faith said we cannot walk alone, we often heard our leaders proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the collective freedom of others. We must be a source of hope to the poor, sick, the marginalised, the victims of prejudice, not mere charity, but because peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principle that our common creed describes, which is :- Tolerance and opportunity, human dignity and justice. Its a known facts that we had crisis in this state. What are your feelings when people are killed and properties worth millions of naira are destroyed. What role did you play? Did you celebrated or you mourn. What was ur contributions in bringing an end to the crisis. Please brothers and sisters, these call for a sober reflections on our past heroes, brothers, sisters, in-laws. We know our common enemy right within our minds. We can desists from all these if we means business. The time is now.
