PLEASE HELP IDENTIFY: The following 3 images were taken this morning. This horse lives on a property very close to Clara Anna Fontein/Meerendal/up Westerdale Road in Durbanville. The symptoms include raised welts, itchiness, leaks plasma which crystalises, bald spots as per image of the leg. This is very symptomatic of a heavy midge assault BUT according to the owner, this does not happen at all on any of the neighbouring properties. How can this occur ONLY on this 2 hectare property (amongst thousands of surrounding agricultural hectares)? Could this be caused by a plant/shrub/bush? Her horses are on wild ground, sand/dust paddocks, and grass/semi clay paddocks all within a total area of 18000m2 and yet all of them show symptoms to a lesser or greater degree. There is no mud, and no stagnant bodies of water on this property. How can I get to the bottom of this? If it is a plant I have to eradicate it, but I have no idea where to start.
